Bonus Post: Chocolate-Dipped Candied Orange Peels

Even bakers have Thanksgiving leftovers! When I made the garnish for my pumpkin spice mini cupcakes, I halved a Food Network recipe and candied the rinds of three oranges.

With plenty left over, I decided to dip the candied peels in dark chocolate for an extra post-Thanksgiving treat!

  • 4 ounces dark chocolate, broken into small pieces
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vegetable shortening

  • Line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Melt all ingredients in a small bowl, mixing to combine.
  • Dip candied peels into mixture, leaving some of the candied peel exposed.
  • Place dipped peels onto parchment-lined cookie sheet to cool and harden chocolate.

  1. The candied orange peel was delicious on the mini-pumpkin cupcakes. I’m anxious to try the peel with the additional chocolate coating – looks so good! I’ll have to add this to my Christmas dessert list.

  2. This was delicious as a garnish on the pumpkin spice cupcake. However, the unexpected surprise was how equally delicious it was on by itself or when dipped in chocolate.

Let me know what you think!
